Marutta Seeks Saṃvarta’s Priestly Support; Conditions, Truth-Discipline, and Rival Powers
The verse frames success as certain when a ruler aligns his actions with a competent adviser’s settled purpose; it highlights the ethical weight of intention (abhiprāya) and the king’s responsibility to choose whose counsel he empowers.
Saṁvarta addresses a king and offers assurance of the king’s desired outcomes, on the condition that the king agrees to execute Saṁvarta’s plans—setting a counsel-and-compliance dynamic that drives the next actions.
