Abhimanyu’s Śrāddha; Vyāsa’s Assurance of the Unborn Heir (अभिमन्योः श्राद्धं तथा गर्भरक्षणोपदेशः)
एवमाश्वासयित्वैनां कुन्ती यदुकुलोद्वह । विहाय शोक दुर्धर्ष श्राद्धमस्य हकल्पयत्,“यदुकुलभूषण पिताजी! इस प्रकार सुभद्राको समझा-बुझाकर दुस्तर शोकको त्यागकर कुन्तीने उसके श्राद्धकी तैयारी करायी
evaṁ āśvāsayitvaināṁ kuntī yadukulodvaha | vihāya śokaṁ durdharṣa śrāddham asya ha kalpayat ||
Vaiśampāyana disse: Assim, depois de consolá-la, Kuntī—dirigindo-se ao mais eminente da linhagem dos Yadu—instou-a a abandonar o pesar esmagador e, em seguida, providenciou para ele os ritos de śrāddha.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dharma in bereavement: grief is acknowledged but should be steadied through right conduct—consolation, self-control, and performing śrāddha to honor the departed and uphold familial and ritual obligations.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Kuntī consoles the grieving woman (contextually Subhadrā) and, after urging her to set aside unbearable sorrow, proceeds to arrange the śrāddha ceremonies for the deceased.
