Arjuna–Vāsudeva framed dialogue
The verse frames a spiritual instruction: the ‘supreme path’ and the ‘highest state’ are subtle and difficult to comprehend, so the listeners are urged to attend carefully and understand it completely—implying disciplined listening, clarity, and wholehearted grasp of the means to the ultimate good.
Vāyudeva addresses a group respectfully as ‘fortunate ones’ and announces that he will now explain a profound, hard-to-know path that leads to the supreme goal, setting up a detailed exposition that follows.
