“इन्होंने रत्नमय पर्वतोंसे सुशोभित और प्रचुर दक्षिणासे सम्पन्न अनेक बड़े-बड़े यज्ञ किये हैं, पृथ्वीका राज्य भोगा है और प्रजाका भलीभाँति पालन किया है ।। पुत्रसंस्थं च विपुलं राज्यं विप्रोषिते त्वयि । त्रयोदशसमा भुक्तं दत्त च विविधं वसु
putrasaṁsthaṁ ca vipulaṁ rājyaṁ viproṣite tvayi | trayodaśa-samā bhuktaṁ datta ca vividhaṁ vasu ||
Vaiśampāyana disse: “Ele realizou muitos grandes sacrifícios, adornados por montanhas de joias e providos de abundantes dakṣiṇā; desfrutou do senhorio da terra e protegeu bem o povo. Enquanto estavas ausente, o vasto reino permaneceu assegurado em tua linhagem: por treze anos foi devidamente usufruído e administrado, e riquezas de muitos tipos também foram concedidas em dádivas.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Legitimate sovereignty is not mere enjoyment; it is stewardship—maintaining continuity through heirs, administering the realm properly, and practicing generosity through rightful gifts.
Vaiśampāyana summarizes the condition of the kingdom during the addressee’s absence: the rule remained secure in the family line, the realm was governed for thirteen years, and various forms of wealth were distributed as gifts.
