Educational Q&A

The verse highlights impartial moral accounting after war: Vyāsa’s summons encompasses all combatants and allied kings from both sides, suggesting that dharma’s scrutiny and the need for reckoning or resolution apply universally, not selectively.

Vaiśampāyana narrates that the warriors and allied rulers—those who had come from many regions to fight for either the Pāṇḍavas or the Kauravas—are being called together by the sage Vyāsa, setting up a collective scene in the war’s aftermath.
