गन्धर्वराजो यो धीमान् धृतराष्ट्र इति श्रुतः । स एव मानुषे लोके धृतराष्ट्र: पतिस्तव,गन्धर्वोंके लोकमें जो बुद्धिमान् गन्धर्वराज धृतराष्ट्रके नामसे विख्यात हैं, वे ही मनुष्यलोकमें तुम्हारे पति धृतराष्ट्रके रूपमें अवतीर्ण हुए हैं
gandharvarājo yo dhīmān dhṛtarāṣṭra iti śrutaḥ | sa eva mānuṣe loke dhṛtarāṣṭraḥ patistava ||
Vyāsa disse: “Aquele sábio rei dos Gandharvas, célebre pelo nome Dhṛtarāṣṭra—ele mesmo nasceu no mundo humano como teu esposo Dhṛtarāṣṭra.”
व्यास उवाच
The verse teaches continuity of identity and relationships across births: a being known in a celestial realm can be born in the human world, implying that present bonds and sufferings are shaped by deeper karmic and cosmic histories.
Vyāsa reveals to the listener (addressed as “your”) that the human Dhṛtarāṣṭra is the same entity as a wise Gandharva-king named Dhṛtarāṣṭra, thereby explaining Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s origin through a prior, non-human existence.
