Chatra–Upānah Dāna: Origin Narrative
Jamadagni–Reṇukā–Sūrya Saṃvāda
As a chapter-colophon, the line primarily signals closure, but it points to the ethical focus of the chapter: the disciplined use of oaths (śapatha) under prescribed rules (vidhi), implying that truth-commitments and solemn speech are part of dharma, especially in contexts like charity and social obligation.
This is not a spoken narrative verse but a concluding colophon: it announces that, within the Mahābhārata’s Anuśāsana Parva and the dāna-dharma section, the ninety-fourth chapter—on procedures concerning oaths—has ended.
