The verse models devotional and ethical remembrance through nāma-saṅkīrtana: enumerating divine epithets that highlight radiance, creative power, and wisdom, encouraging reverence for the cosmic source that upholds order (dharma).
In Bhīṣma’s instruction, he recites a sequence of honorific names/epithets—solar, lunar, creative, and sage-like—functioning as a litany of praise within his broader discourse on righteous conduct and sacred observances.
