Śrāddha-utpatti and Nivāpa–Agni Precedence (श्राद्धोत्पत्तिः—निवापेऽग्निपूर्वकत्वम्)
इमं श्राद्धविधिं श्रुत्वा शशबिन्दुस्तथाकरोत् । अक्लेशेनाजयच्चापि महीं सोडनुशशास ह
imaṃ śrāddhavidhiṃ śrutvā śaśabindus tathākarot | akleśenājayac cāpi mahīṃ so 'nuśaśāsa ha ||
Bhīṣma disse: “Tendo ouvido este rito prescrito de śrāddha, o rei Śaśabindu agiu de acordo. Sem dificuldade, conquistou também a terra e, depois disso, manteve e administrou o seu governo.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse links faithful performance of the Śrāddha-rite (a dharmic obligation toward ancestors) with tangible worldly stability and success, suggesting that righteous ritual duty supports both spiritual merit and effective kingship.
Bhīṣma cites King Śaśabindu as an example: after hearing the correct Śrāddha procedure, he practiced it, and as a result is portrayed as conquering the earth without strain and then ruling it firmly.
