Chapter 85: Suvarṇasya Janma ca Pradāna-Phalam
The Origin of Gold and the Merit of Gifting
This line functions as a colophon marking the end of a chapter devoted to go-dāna within dāna-dharma. Its ethical emphasis is that charity is a formal, teachable component of dharma, and the tradition highlights specific gifts (like cows) as exemplary forms of righteous giving.
The speaker’s discourse reaches a formal conclusion: the text announces that the eighty-first chapter on cow-gifting, situated within the charity-dharma section of the Anuśāsana Parva, has been completed.
