Bhīṣma disse: “E fazendo o quê os sábios alcançam o estado supremo? E por qual ato purificador os deuses desfrutam do céu, ó senhor poderoso?”

The verse frames a dharma-inquiry: which specific actions lead the wise to the highest spiritual destination, and what purifying practice sustains heavenly enjoyment even for the gods—highlighting karma, purity, and the hierarchy of goals (svarga versus the supreme state).
In the Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction setting, Bhīṣma continues a sequence of questions, asking about the deeds and purifying means that grant the wise the highest attainment and that enable the gods to partake of heaven.
