Cows and Ghee as Supreme Purifiers
असुर्या नाम ते लोका गां दत्त्वा तानू न गच्छति । पीतोदकां जग्धतृणां नष्टक्षीरां निरिन्द्रियाम्
bhīṣma uvāca | asuryā nāma te lokā gāṁ dattvā tānū na gacchati | pītodakāṁ jagdhatṛṇāṁ naṣṭakṣīrāṁ nirindriyām |
Bhīṣma disse: “Há mundos chamados ‘Asurya’—reinos sombrios, sem sol. Quem doa uma vaca em condições apropriadas não precisa ir a esses lugares. Mas se alguém oferece uma vaca deixada sem água, sem pasto, com o leite arruinado e com os sentidos e a força já falhos—velha e enferma—, tal ‘doação’ apenas impõe sofrimento inútil ao brāhmaṇa que a recebe, e o doador cai ele mesmo num terrível inferno.”
