प्राणदानाद्धि परमं न दानमिह विद्यते । श्रुतं हि ते महाबाहो लोमशस्यापि तद्धबच:

Transliteration

prāṇadānād dhi paramaṁ na dānam iha vidyate | śrutaṁ hi te mahābāho lomaśasyāpi tad vacaḥ ||

Translation

Bhishma disse: “De fato, neste mundo não há dádiva mais elevada do que a dádiva da vida. Pois, quando alguém dá alimento a outro, é como se lhe desse o próprio fôlego. Ó de braços poderosos, também ouviste esta mesma sentença do sábio Lomaśa.”
