Educational Q&A

The verse foregrounds the ethical value of śubha-vacana (auspicious, well-intentioned speech) and attentive listening in dharma-discourse; it also signals Sāvitrī as a paradigmatic example of virtue (especially steadfastness and devotion) within moral instruction.

In the Anuśāsana Parva dialogue, Bhīṣma addresses Kaunteya (Yudhiṣṭhira) and acknowledges having heard his words, explicitly noting that the matter involving Sāvitrī has also been heard—serving as a transition into or confirmation of a didactic exemplum.
