Karma-Phala Rahasya and the Ethics of Dāna (कर्मफल-रहस्यं दानधर्मश्च)
यस्यां यस्यामवस्थायां यत् करोति शुभाशुभम् | तस्यां तस्यामवस्थायां भुद्धक्ते जन्मनि जन्मनि,जिस-जिस अवस्थामें वह जो-जो शुभ या अशुभ कर्म करता है, प्रत्येक जन्मकी उसी- उसी अवस्थामें वह उसका फल भोगता है
yasyāṁ yasyām avasthāyāṁ yat karoti śubhāśubham | tasyāṁ tasyām avasthāyāṁ bhunkte janmani janmani ||
Bhishma disse: “Em qualquer condição ou etapa da vida em que uma pessoa pratique um ato bom ou mau, de nascimento em nascimento ela experimenta o seu resultado naquele mesmo tipo de condição—assim o karma frutifica de modo correspondente ao estado em que foi realizado.”
