दानफलप्रकरणम् — उपानहदानं, तिलदानं, भूमिदानं, गोदानं, अन्नदानं च

Gifts and Their Stated Results: Footwear, Sesame, Land, Cows, and Food

कृत्यानामधिशस्तानामरिष्टशमनं महत्‌ | प्रायश्षित्तं महीं दत्त्वा पुनात्युभयतो दश

bhīṣma uvāca | kṛtyānām adhiśastānām ariṣṭaśamanaṁ mahat | prāyaścittaṁ mahīṁ dattvā punāty ubhayato daśa ||

Bhishma disse: Para os graves males que surgem de ritos malévolos e atos destrutivos, o maior meio de apaziguar a calamidade iminente é a expiação por meio do dom de terras. Ao doar a terra, uma pessoa purifica dez gerações de ambos os lados—os que vieram antes e os que virão depois.
