Transliteration

hṛtaṃ kṛpaṇa-vittaṃ hi rāṣṭraṃ hanti nṛpa-śriyam | dadyāc ca mahato bhogān kṣudhyaṃ praṇudet satām ||

Translation

Bhīṣma disse: “De fato, a riqueza tomada aos desvalidos destrói o reino e a prosperidade do rei. Por isso, o governante não deve tomar os bens dos pobres; antes, deve prover-lhes amplos meios de sustento e afastar dos virtuosos a aflição da fome.”
