Varṇasaṃkara: Causes, Classifications, and Conduct-based Recognition (वर्णसंकरः—हेतु-जाति-आचारनिर्णयः)
असूयवस्त्वधर्मिष्ठा: परस्वादायिन: शठा: । आसुरादधिसम्भूता धर्माद् विषमवृत्तय:
asūyavas tv adharmiṣṭhāḥ parasvādāyinaḥ śaṭhāḥ | āsurād adhisambhūtā dharmād viṣamavṛttayaḥ ||
Bhīṣma disse: “Aqueles que nascem de uma forma de casamento āsura tendem a ser caçadores de faltas, profundamente adharma, apropriadores da riqueza alheia, enganadores e inclinados a uma conduta contrária ao dharma.”
भीष्म उवाच
Bhīṣma links the manner of marriage to ethical disposition, warning that coercive or acquisitive unions (āsura-vivāha) foster tendencies like envy, deceit, theft, and conduct opposed to dharma.
In his instruction on dharma, Bhīṣma is describing the moral consequences associated with different forms of marriage, here characterizing the offspring said to arise from the āsura type.
