Gifts and sacrificial offerings bear lasting fruit when they are properly directed—especially when oblations are used by worthy Brāhmaṇas—so the giver gains enduring merit and a higher post-mortem destiny rather than spiritual loss.
In Bhīṣma’s instruction on dharma, he explains the benefit of correctly offered and rightly utilized sacrificial gifts: the patron (yajamāna) is pleased, and those connected with such offerings attain a superior spiritual outcome after death.
