Tīrtha-vaṃśa Upadeśa: Instruction on the Fruits of Sacred Waters
शिलाभि: शड्कुभियववपि श्रवश्रैर्वा भरतर्षभ । ये मार्गमनुरुन्धन्ति ते वै निरयगामिन:,भरतश्रेष्ठ) जो पत्थर रखकर, काँटे बिछाकर और गड्ढे खोदकर रास्ता रोकते हैं, वे भी नरकमें ही गिरते हैं
śilābhiḥ śaṅkubhir yavair api śvabhraiḥ vā bharatarṣabha | ye mārgam anurundhanti te vai nirayagāminaḥ ||
Bhīṣma disse: “Ó touro entre os Bharatas, aqueles que obstruem uma via pública—colocando pedras, fincando estacas ou espinhos, ou cavando covas—estão, de fato, destinados ao inferno.”
भीष्म उवाच
Obstructing a public road—creating hazards or blocking passage—is a serious adharma because it harms many people and violates public welfare; such acts are said to lead to hellish consequences.
In the Anuśāsana Parva, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma and the results of harmful actions; here he condemns those who deliberately block roads with stones, stakes/thorns, or pits.
