Grief is not ended by force but by right understanding and wise counsel; when guided by dharmic instruction from authoritative figures (Kṛṣṇa and Vyāsa), one relinquishes sorrow and returns to one’s proper duty and natural order.
After being addressed and consoled by Kṛṣṇa and Vyāsa, Gaṅgā—called the foremost of rivers—gives up her sorrow and re-enters her own waters, indicating a return to her normal state and course.
