प्रथमो होष देवानां मुखादग्निमजीजनत् । ग्रहैर्बहुविधै: प्राणान् संरुद्धानुत्सूजत्यपि
prathamo hi sa devānāṁ mukhād agnim ajījanat | grahair bahuvidhaiḥ prāṇān saṁruddhān utsṛjati api ||
Disse o deus Vāyu: “Ele é o primeiro entre os deuses; de sua própria boca fez nascer o Fogo (Agni). Mesmo os seres cujo sopro vital é constrangido por muitas aflições planetárias—ele os liberta, concedendo alívio do sofrimento.”
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse highlights a deity’s supreme, beneficent power: he is both a cosmic creator (bringing forth Agni) and a compassionate protector who frees afflicted beings from suffering, restoring their prāṇa and well-being.
Vāyu-deva is praising or describing a foremost divine figure, stating that this god produced Agni from his mouth and also liberates living beings whose life-force is oppressed by various graha-related afflictions.
