अध्याय १६ — शङ्कर-उमा-वरदानम् तथा तण्डि-स्तुतिः (Śaṅkara–Umā Boon-Granting and Taṇḍi’s Hymn)
यं लब्ध्वा परमं लाभ॑ नाधिकं मन्यते बुध: । यां सूक्ष्मां परमां प्राप्तिं गच्छन्नव्ययमक्षयम्
yaṁ labdhvā paramaṁ lābhaṁ nādhikaṁ manyate budhaḥ | yāṁ sūkṣmāṁ paramāṁ prāptiṁ gacchann avyayam akṣayam ||
Vāyu disse: “Tendo alcançado Aquilo, o sábio não considera haver ganho maior. Chegando a essa realização sutil e suprema, avança-se para o estado imperecível, que não decai.”
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse teaches that realization of the highest, subtle Reality is the unsurpassed gain: once attained, no other achievement is considered greater, because it leads to the imperishable, undecaying state (mokṣa).
Vāyu is speaking in Anuśāsana Parva, describing the nature of the supreme attainment sought by the wise—an ultimate realization that transcends ordinary worldly gains and culminates in an imperishable state.
