Adhyāya 152 — Bhīṣma’s Authorization for Yudhiṣṭhira’s Return to the Capital (नगरप्रवेशानुज्ञा)
The verse reinforces pativratā-dharma by naming divine consorts renowned for chastity and fidelity, presenting them as ethical exemplars whose conduct defines an ideal of steadfast virtue.
Maheśvara enumerates the wives of major deities—Varuṇa, Sūrya, the Moon, and Agni—within a larger admonition/praise, reminding the addressed goddess that she has associated with such paragons and sought instruction about dharma from them.
