Adhyāya 129 — त्रिविधधर्म-निर्णयः
Threefold Sources of Dharma; Pravṛtti–Nivṛtti and Ṛṣi-dharma
वेदज्ञ ब्राह्मणोंको वेदविरुद्ध कर्ममें तत्यर और विद्दानोंको इन्द्रियोंक अधीन देखकर मेरी समझमें तुम निरन्तर चिन्तित रहते हो। सम्भवतः इसीलिये तुम्हारा शरीर सफेद (पीला) पड़ गया है और तुम दुर्बल हो गये हो
vedajña brāhmaṇān veda-viruddha-karmaṇi tatparān ca viduṣa indriyādhīnaṃ ca dṛṣṭvā mama matena tvaṃ nirantaraṃ cintitaḥ tiṣṭhasi | sambhavataḥ tasmād eva tava śarīraṃ śvetaṃ (pītaṃ) jātaṃ, tvaṃ ca durbalo 'bhavaḥ |
Diz o brāhmaṇa: “Ao ver brâmanes que conhecem os Vedas e, ainda assim, devotados a atos contrários aos Vedas, e ao ver homens eruditos escravizados pelos sentidos, julgo que permaneces continuamente inquieto. Talvez por isso teu corpo tenha empalidecido e tenhas enfraquecido.”
ब्राह्मण उवाच
Learning and Vedic knowledge are insufficient without right conduct and mastery over the senses; when scholars and Brahmins act against scripture or become sense-driven, it produces continual mental distress and even visible physical decline.
A Brahmin addresses someone who appears pale and weak, diagnosing the cause as persistent worry arising from witnessing social and ethical degeneration—Veda-knowing Brahmins pursuing anti-Vedic deeds and learned people living under the sway of their senses.
