Bṛhaspati–Yudhiṣṭhira Saṃvāda

रजस्तम: सत्त्वमथो येषां निर्धौतमात्मन: । शौचाशौचसमायुक्ता: स्वकार्यपरिमार्गिण:

rajas-tamaḥ sattvam atho yeṣāṁ nirdhautam ātmanaḥ | śaucāśauca-samāyuktāḥ sva-kārya-parimārgiṇaḥ ||

Disse Bhīṣma: Aqueles cujo ser interior foi purificado de rajas, tamas e até de sattva—tornando-se assim livres das três guṇas—e que, embora se movam entre condições externas de pureza e impureza, buscam apenas o seu verdadeiro dever (como a investigação da realidade, a meditação e a adoração): tais pessoas, devotadas à purificação interior por meio de uma conduta disciplinada, são elas mesmas os mais altos lugares santos. Sua presença santifica mais do que qualquer peregrinação externa, pois sua vida está ancorada na renúncia, no conhecimento e na visão igual.
