मानसतीर्थ-शौचप्रशंसा | Praise of the ‘Mental Tīrtha’ and the Marks of Purity
सदा द्वादशमासान् वै जुह्मानो जातवेदसम् | सरस्वती गोपयानो ब्रह्मचर्य समाचरन्
bhīṣma uvāca | sadā dvādaśa-māsān vai juhmāno jātavedasam | sarasvatīṁ gopayāno brahmacaryaṁ samācaran |
Bhīṣma disse: Aquele que, por doze meses completos, oferece continuamente oblações ao fogo sagrado, Agni Jātavedas, refreia a fala e pratica o brahmacarya—renunciando para sempre a guirlandas de flores, pasta de sândalo, mel e carne—alcança os mundos dos Maruts e de Indra.
भीष्म उवाच
Sustained ritual discipline (daily fire-offerings), control of speech, and strict brahmacarya—supported by renunciation of sensual/ritual luxuries—are presented as powerful dharmic practices that generate merit leading to exalted heavenly attainments (Marut-world and Indra’s world).
In Bhishma’s instruction on dharma, he describes a specific year-long regimen of sacrifice and self-control and states its फल (result): the practitioner gains access to the celestial realms associated with the Maruts and Indra.
