Āloka-dāna (Dīpa-dāna), Sumanas–Dhūpa–Dīpa Phala: Manu–Suvarṇa and Śukra–Bali Exempla
सुवर्णस्त्वब्रवीद् वाक््यं मनुं स्वायम्भुवं प्रति । हितार्थ सर्वभूतानां प्रश्न॑ मे वक्तुमहसि
suvarṇas tv abravīd vākyam manuṃ svāyambhuvaṃ prati | hitārthaṃ sarvabhūtānāṃ praśnaṃ me vaktum arhasi ||
Disse Bhishma: Suvarṇa dirigiu-se a Manu Svayambhuva e disse: “Para o bem de todos os seres, deves responder a uma pergunta minha. Que prática é esta pela qual os deuses são adorados com flores? Como ela passou a ser usada? Qual é o seu fruto e qual é o seu propósito correto? Conta-me tudo isso.”
