Agni’s Curse and the Restoration of Ritual Order

Educational Q&A

The verse underscores dharma as continuity of disciplined practice: after an extraordinary visit by divine seers, the sages return to their regular prescribed rites (kriyāḥ) like agnihotra, showing that spiritual life is sustained by steady observance rather than momentary excitement.

Śaunaka reports that the devarṣis, pleased, depart in the same manner as they arrived; once they leave, the resident sages and great sages resume their customary ritual duties, restoring the normal routine of the hermitage.
