Duḥṣanta–Śakuntalā: Gandharva Marriage and Succession Condition
एवमुक्ता च सा बाला तदा कौतूहलान्विता । कन्या सती देवमर्कमाजुहाव यशस्विनी,दुर्वासाके ऐसा कहनेपर वह सती-साध्वी यशस्विनी बाला यद्यपि अभी कुमारी कन्या थी, तो भी कौतूहलवश उसने भगवान् सूर्यका आवाहन किया
evam uktā ca sā bālā tadā kautūhalānvitā | kanyā satī devam arkam ājuhāva yaśasvinī ||
Assim interpelada, a jovem donzela, tomada de curiosidade, embora ainda fosse uma moça solteira, a virtuosa e afamada invocou o deus Sol (Arka).
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even seemingly innocent curiosity can activate powerful forces; dharma then requires accountability, discretion, and ethical handling of the consequences of one’s actions—especially when sacred rites and divine powers are involved.
After being instructed (in context, by the power of a mantra/boon), the young maiden—still unmarried—decides out of curiosity to test it and therefore invokes the Sun-god (Arka/Sūrya).
