Duḥṣanta at Kaṇva-Āśrama; Śakuntalā’s Reception and Origin Prelude (दुःषन्तस्य कण्वाश्रमागमनम्)
The verse underscores orderly transmission of sacred history: origins and lineages should be narrated systematically (yathāvat), emphasizing completeness and reliability in itihāsa storytelling.
Vaiśampāyana, addressing the king, concludes a section of enumeration by stating he has already explained the origins of all beings and has also duly recounted the births of Gandharvas and Apsarases.
