Cyavana’s Birth and Bhṛgu’s Curse upon Agni (च्यवनजन्म तथा अग्निशापः)
स एव च्यवनो जज्ञे भृगो: पुत्र: प्रतापवान् । त॑ं ददर्श पिता तत्र च्यवनं तां च भामिनीम् । स पुलोमां ततो भार्या पप्रच्छ कुपितो भृगु:,इस प्रकार भृगुपुत्र प्रतापी च्यवनका जन्म हुआ। तदनन्तर पिता भृगुने वहाँ अपने पुत्र च्यवन तथा पत्नी पुलोमाको देखा और सब बातें जानकर उन्होंने अपनी भार्या पुलोमासे कुपित होकर पूछा--
sa eva cyavano jajñe bhṛgoḥ putraḥ pratāpavān | taṃ dadarśa pitā tatra cyavanaṃ tāṃ ca bhāminīm | sa pulomāṃ tato bhāryā papraccha kupito bhṛguḥ |
Assim nasceu Cyavana, o ilustre filho de Bhṛgu. Em seguida, seu pai viu ali tanto o filho Cyavana quanto aquela mulher, Pulomā. Tomado de ira, Bhṛgu interrogou sua esposa Pulomā, exigindo saber o que havia ocorrido.

The verse foregrounds accountability within dharma: even in intimate family contexts, actions invite inquiry and moral reckoning. Bhṛgu’s anger signals the ethical gravity of breaches of trust, while the narrative sets up the need for truthful explanation and responsible conduct.
Cyavana, the son of Bhṛgu, has been born. Bhṛgu arrives and sees both the newborn Cyavana and his wife Pulomā. Becoming angry, he questions Pulomā about what has transpired, indicating a troubling event has occurred that demands clarification.
