The verse affirms that righteous action includes performing rites with proper procedure and intention, and it frames speech itself as a vehicle of auspiciousness: praise of dharmic precedent (great kings’ sacrifices) culminates in a blessing (svasti) for one’s loved ones.
Āstīka addresses King Janamejaya during the great sacrificial rite, comparing it to famed exemplary sacrifices of earlier royal figures (Gaya, Śaśabindu, and Kubera/Vaiśravaṇa) and pronouncing an auspicious benediction for the welfare of dear ones.
