Jaratkāru’s Marital Compact and Departure
Kaśyapa uvāca: vidyābalaṃ pannagendra paśya me ’dya vanaspatौ | ahaṃ saṃjīvayāmy enaṃ paśyatas te bhujaṅgama ||
The verse highlights that true vidyā (sacred knowledge) has real efficacy and should be used in a life-affirming, dharmic way—restoring and protecting rather than harming or merely boasting.
Kaśyapa addresses the Nāga-king and announces a demonstration: in the serpent’s presence he will use his knowledge to revive a tree, showing the tangible power of his vidyā.
