Jaratkāru’s Conditional Marriage Vow and Vāsuki’s Offer (जरत्कारु-विवाह-नियमः)
मम पुत्रेण शप्तोडसि बालेन कृशबुद्धिना । ममेमां धर्षणां त्वत्त: प्रेक्ष्य राजन्नमर्षिणा,तात! मैं तो शान्ति धारण करके अब जो कुछ किया जा सकता है, वह करूँगा। राजाके पास यह संदेश भेज दूँगा कि “राजन! तुम्हारे द्वारा मुझे जो तिरस्कार प्राप्त हुआ है उसे देखकर अमर्षमें भरे हुए मेरे अल्पबुद्धि एवं मूढ़ पुत्रने तुम्हें शाप दे दिया है'
mamaputreṇa śapto 'si bālena kṛśabuddhinā | mamemāṃ dharṣaṇāṃ tvattaḥ prekṣya rājann amarṣiṇā ||
Disse Śamīka: “Foste amaldiçoado por meu filho—apenas um menino, de entendimento fraco. Ao ver a afronta que me veio de tuas mãos, ó Rei, ele se encheu de indignação e, em sua ira, pronunciou uma maldição contra ti. Quanto a mim, firmar-me-ei na tolerância e farei o que agora pode ser feito—enviando-te notícia do ocorrido.”
