आदि पर्व — अध्याय 39: तक्षक–काश्यप संवादः, न्यग्रोधसंजीवनम्, पारिक्षितोपायः
ब्रह्मोवाच मयैव तद् वितीर्ण वै वचनं मनसामरा: । एलापत्रेण नागेन यदस्याभिहितं पुरा,ब्रह्माजीने कहा--'देवताओ! एलापत्र नागने वासुकिके समक्ष पहले जो बात कही थी, वह मैंने ही मानसिक संकल्पद्दारा उसे दी थी (मेरी ही प्रेरणासे एलापत्रने वे बातें वासुकि आदि नागोंके सम्मुख कही थीं)
brahmovāca mayāiva tad vitīrṇaṃ vai vacanaṃ manasā amarāḥ | elāpatreṇa nāgena yad asyābhihitaṃ purā ||
Brahmā disse: “Ó imortais! Essa mesma palavra foi concedida por mim por meio de um desígnio mental. O que a serpente Elāpatra outrora disse a Vāsuki foi, na verdade, dito sob o meu próprio impulso.”
एलापत्र उवाच
The verse emphasizes divine agency behind human (or nāga) speech: words that shape events may originate from a higher will, here Brahmā’s mental resolve, underscoring providence and the cosmic ordering of outcomes.
Brahmā addresses the gods and clarifies that the earlier counsel spoken by the serpent Elāpatra to Vāsuki was not merely Elāpatra’s own initiative; it was inspired and ‘bestowed’ by Brahmā through a mental intention.
