जनयामास पुत्रौ द्वावरुणं गरुडं तथा । विकलाड्रो5रुणस्तत्र भास्करस्य पुर:सर:,उसने दो पुत्र उत्पन्न किये--अरुण और गरुड। जिनके अंग कुछ अधूरे रह गये थे, वे अरुण कहलाते हैं, वे ही सूर्यदेवके सारथि बनकर उनके आगे-आगे चलते हैं
janayāmāsa putrau dvāvaruṇaṃ garuḍaṃ tathā | vikalāḍ 'ruṇas tatra bhāskarasya puraḥ-saraḥ ||
Śaunaka disse: Ela deu à luz dois filhos — primeiro Aruṇa e depois Garuḍa. Nesse nascimento, Aruṇa veio com os membros incompletos; e tornou-se o precursor de Bhāskara (o Sol), servindo como cocheiro do deus Sol, indo à sua frente.
