Garuḍa–Śakra Saṃvāda and the Retrieval of Amṛta (गरुड–शक्र संवादः अमृत-अपहरण-प्रसङ्गः)
स तद्विनाशसंत्रासादभिपत्य खगाधिप: । शाखामास्येन जग्राह तेषामेवान्ववेक्षया
sa tadvināśasaṃtrāsād abhipatya khagādhipaḥ | śākhām āsyena jagrāha teṣām evānvavekṣayā ||
Temendo a destruição deles, o senhor das aves (Garuḍa) mergulhou e tomou o ramo no bico, mantendo a atenção fixa naqueles mesmos sábios. Fê-lo por receio de que o ramo em queda matasse os ascetas pendurados nele, e assim os protegeu de todo mal.
रौहिण उवाच
Even immense strength must be governed by dharma: one should remain vigilant that one’s actions do not harm the innocent, especially the spiritually devoted; power is shown as restraint and protection.
Garuḍa, noticing sages endangered by a falling tree-branch, quickly swoops in and grips the branch with his beak to prevent their death, acting out of careful concern for their safety.
