Shloka 23
एवं ब्रुवन्तं दुःखार्त कि मां न प्रतिभाषसे । कृतवानपि हि त्यागं नैव शान्तिमितो लभे,मैं इस प्रकार दुःखसे आतुर होकर तुमसे पूछ रहा हूँ, तुम मुझे उत्तर क्यों नहीं देती? यद्यपि मैंने तुम्हें त्याग दिया था, तो भी यहाँसे जानेपर मुझे शान्ति नहीं मिलती थी
evaṁ bruvantaṁ duḥkhārtaṁ kiṁ māṁ na pratibhāṣase | kṛtavān api hi tyāgaṁ naiva śāntim ito labhe ||
Mandapāla, atormentado pela dor, disse: “Enquanto te falo nesta aflição, por que não me respondes? Ainda que eu te tenha abandonado outrora, ao deixar este lugar não encontrei paz alguma.”
