Raivataka-giri Mahotsava and the Counsel on Subhadrā’s Marriage (रैवतके महोत्सवः — सुभद्राविवाहोपायविचारः)
ततो वादित्रनृत्या भ्यामुपातिष्ठ न्त तौ स्त्रिय: । गीतैश्व स्तुतिसंयुक्तै: प्रीत्या समुपजग्मिरे,तदनन्तर बहुत-सी स्त्रियाँ प्रेमपूर्वक उनके पास आयीं और वाद्य, नृत्य, गीत एवं स्तुति- प्रशंसा आदिके द्वारा उन दोनोंका मनोरंजन करने लगीं
tato vāditra-nṛtyābhyām upātiṣṭhanta tau striyaḥ | gītaiś ca stuti-saṃyuktaiḥ prītyā samupajagmire ||
Então muitas mulheres se aproximaram dos dois com afetuosa alegria. Serviram-nos com música instrumental e dança e, com canções unidas a palavras de louvor, buscaram agradá-los e entretê-los.
नारद उवाच
The verse highlights the cultural-ethical ideal of honoring and pleasing respected guests or eminent persons through courteous service (upacāra)—music, dance, song, and praise offered with genuine goodwill (prīti).
After a preceding event, many women come to the two individuals mentioned and attend upon them, entertaining them with instrumental music and dance, and approaching with affectionate songs and eulogies.
