इहैषां दोषदद्वासं वर्णयन्तु पृथक् पृथक् ते भिद्यमानास्तत्रैव मन: कुर्वन्तु पाण्डवा:,वे अलग-अलग इन सभी पाण्डवोंसे कहें कि हस्तिनापुरका निवास आपलोगोंके लिये अत्यन्त हानिकारक होगा। इस प्रकार ब्राह्मणोंद्वारा बुद्धिभेद उत्पन्न कर देनेपर सम्भव है, पाण्डवलोग अपने मनमें वहीं (पंचालदेशमें ही) रहनेका निश्चय कर लें
iha eṣāṃ doṣadad vāsaṃ varṇayantu pṛthak pṛthak | te bhidyamānās tatraiva manaḥ kurvantu pāṇḍavāḥ ||
Duryodhana disse: “Aqui, que lhes descrevam—separadamente, um por um—de que modo residir aqui seria nocivo a esses homens. Se assim lhes dividirem o ânimo, os Pāṇḍavas bem podem decidir fixar o coração ali mesmo (naquela terra), em vez de retornar a Hastināpura.”
दुर्योधन उवाच
The verse illustrates the ethical danger of bheda-nīti—deliberately creating division and distrust to control outcomes. It highlights how political success pursued through manipulation and harm (doṣada) stands opposed to dharma, even if it appears strategically clever.
Duryodhana is instructing his agents to persuade the Pāṇḍavas—individually and in a way that fractures their unity—that living in Hastināpura would be detrimental. By sowing doubt and discord, he hopes they will decide to remain where they are (under allied protection), rather than returning to the Kuru capital.
