Adhyāya 196: Droṇa’s Conciliatory Counsel and Karṇa’s Suspicion of Counsel (मन्त्र-नय-विवादः)
तां देवदेव: प्रीतात्मा पुनः प्राह शुभं वचः । पञ्चकृत्वस्त्वयोक्तो5हं पतिं देहीति वै पुनः:,तब देवाधिदेव महादेवजीने मन-ही-मन अत्यन्त संतुष्ट होकर उससे यह शुभ वचन कहा--'भद्रे! तुमने 'पति दीजिये” इस वाक्यको पाँच बार दुहराया है; इसलिये मैंने जो पहले कहा है, वैसा ही होगा, तुम्हारा कल्याण हो। किंतु तुम्हें दूसरे शरीरमें प्रवेश करनेपर यह सब होगा”
tāṃ devadevaḥ prītātmā punaḥ prāha śubhaṃ vacaḥ | pañcakṛtvas tvayokto 'haṃ patiṃ dehīti vai punaḥ ||
O Deus dos deuses, com o coração satisfeito, voltou a dirigir-lhe palavras auspiciosas: “Ó nobre senhora, repetiste cinco vezes o pedido: ‘Concede-me um esposo’. Por isso, aquilo que declarei antes há de cumprir-se para ti—que seja para o teu bem. Contudo, isso se realizará quando entrares noutro corpo.”
