Commencement of Draupadī’s Svayaṃvara
ततः स बुबुधे पश्चात् तमृषिं नृपसत्तम: । ऋषे: पुत्र वसिष्ठस्य वसिष्ठमिव तेजसा,तदनन्तर नृपश्रेष्ठ कल्माषपादने वसिष्ठके समान तेजस्वी वसिष्ठ मुनिके पुत्र उन महर्षि शक्तिको पहचाना
tataḥ sa bubudhe paścāt tam ṛṣiṁ nṛpasattamaḥ | ṛṣeḥ putraṁ vasiṣṭhasya vasiṣṭham iva tejasā ||
Então, passado algum tempo, o melhor dos reis reconheceu aquele sábio—filho de Vasiṣṭha—que resplandecia com um fulgor igual ao do próprio Vasiṣṭha.
गन्धर्व उवाच
The verse highlights discernment and reverence: a righteous king is expected to recognize genuine spiritual stature (tejas) and respond with respect, showing that moral authority can surpass worldly status.
The king, after some time, identifies the approaching sage as Vasiṣṭha’s son (Śakti), whose radiance resembles Vasiṣṭha’s, marking a moment of recognition that frames the ensuing encounter.
