Cause of Kalmāṣapāda’s Niyoga under a Curse
यदिच्छसि महाभाग मत्त: प्रवदतां वर । तत् ते दद्यामभिप्रेतं यद्यपि स्यात् सुदुष्करम्,“वक्ताओंमें श्रेष्ठ महाभाग! तुम मुझसे जो कुछ चाहते हो, तुम्हारी वह अभीष्ट वस्तु कितनी ही दुर्लभ क्यों न हो, तुम्हें अवश्य दूँगा
yadicchasi mahābhāga mattaḥ pravadatāṃ vara | tat te dadyām abhipretaṃ yadyapi syāt suduṣkaram ||
“Ó afortunado, o melhor entre os oradores! Se desejas algo de mim, dize. Eu te concederei o dom que almejas, ainda que seja extremamente difícil de obter.”

The verse highlights the ethical ideal of steadfast generosity and keeping one’s word: a righteous person commits to fulfilling a request even when it is difficult, emphasizing integrity and responsibility in giving.
Vasiṣṭha addresses an esteemed interlocutor and assures him that whatever boon is requested will be granted, underscoring Vasiṣṭha’s authority and his readiness to fulfill a difficult request.
