A ruler’s worldly success and posthumous welfare depend on ethical governance supported by a qualified purohita—one who knows dharma, speaks wisely, lives virtuously, and maintains purity. Right counsel and right conduct convert power into merit.
A Gandharva addresses the principle of ideal kingship, stating that a king who keeps a dharma-knowing, eloquent, virtuous, and pure Brahmin as his priest and adviser gains assured victory in life and reaches heaven after death.
