Aurva Episode: Restoration of Sight and Restraint of World-Destructive Anger
so 'haṁ tvayehā vijitaḥ saṅkhye tāpatyavardhana | yena tena iha vidhinā kīrtyamānaṁ nibodha me ||
Agora te direi a própria razão pela qual me venceste neste encontro. Escuta atentamente, pois a explicarei na devida ordem.”
Even in conflict, the defeated party can respond with clarity and restraint: acknowledging defeat, honoring the victor, and explaining the causal factors behind success. The verse frames victory as something that can be accounted for through discernible reasons and proper order (vidhi), not merely boast or chance.
A Gandharva addresses Arjuna after being overcome in battle. He openly admits defeat and then announces that he will explain the reason Arjuna was able to conquer him, asking Arjuna to listen as he narrates it methodically.
