वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse foregrounds the pull of sense-pleasure—how quickly the mind and body respond to a desired object. In ethical reading, it serves as a reminder that attachment and craving can arise powerfully and should be recognized and governed by discernment (dharma) rather than impulse.
The speaker describes the immediate, physical delight at receiving long-awaited, favorite food: saliva gathers and the tongue moves eagerly, emphasizing appetite and relish in the moment.
