Hiḍimbā’s Account and the Bhīma–Hiḍimba Engagement (आदि पर्व, अध्याय १४२)
स विस्रब्ध: पाण्डुपुत्रान् सह मात्रा प्रवासय । वारणावतमद्यैव यथा यान्ति तथा कुरु,इसलिये आप पूर्ण निश्चिन्त होकर पाण्डवोंको उनकी माताके साथ वारणावत भेज दीजिये और ऐसी व्यवस्था कीजिये, जिससे वे आज ही चले जायाँ
sa visrabdhaḥ pāṇḍuputrān saha mātrā pravāsaya | vāraṇāvatam adyaiva yathā yānti tathā kuru ||
Duryodhana disse: “Com plena confiança e sem qualquer hesitação, manda os filhos de Pāṇḍu, juntamente com a mãe deles, para longe — despacha-os para Vāraṇāvata. Faz os arranjos para que partam ainda hoje.”
दुर्योधन उवाच
The verse illustrates how unethical intent can be masked as calm, practical governance. It warns that confidence and administrative language do not guarantee righteousness; dharma requires scrutiny of motive and consequence, not merely outward propriety.
Duryodhana instructs that the Pāṇḍavas, along with their mother, be sent immediately to Vāraṇāvata. This forms part of the broader scheme to remove them from Hastināpura and set the stage for harm under the cover of a seemingly routine relocation.
