शरैनननाविधैस्तूर्ण पार्थ संछाद्य सर्वश: । सिंहनादं मुखै: कृत्वा समयुध्यन्त पाण्डवम्,उनके बाणोंसे घायल हुए पांचाल और संजय वीरोंने तुरंत ही नाना प्रकारके बाणोंकी वर्षा करके अर्जुनको सब ओरसे ढक दिया और मुखसे सिंहनाद करते हुए उनसे लोहा लेना आरम्भ किया
śarair nanāvidhais tūrṇaṃ pārtha saṃchādya sarvaśaḥ | siṃhanādaṃ mukhaiḥ kṛtvā samayudhyanta pāṇḍavam ||
Disse Vaiśampāyana: Feridos por suas flechas, os guerreiros de Pañcāla e o herói Sañjaya imediatamente cobriram Arjuna (Pārtha) de todos os lados com uma chuva de dardos de muitas espécies. Rugindo como leões, aproximaram-se para enfrentar o Pāṇḍava em combate direto—imagem do valor no campo, em que o ferido não recua, mas responde com força renovada.
