चुक्ुशु: पाण्डवा: सर्वे भीष्म: शान्तनवस्तथा । विदुरो ज्ञातयश्वैव चक्रुश्चाप्युदकक्रिया:,उस समय सभी पाण्डव पिताके लिये रो रहे थे। शन्तनुनन्दन भीष्म, विदुर तथा अन्य भाई-बन्धुओंकी भी यही दशा थी। सबने जलांजलि देनेकी क्रिया पूरी की
cukruśuḥ pāṇḍavāḥ sarve bhīṣmaḥ śāntanavas tathā | viduro jñātayaś caiva cakruś cāpy udakakriyāḥ ||
Disse Vaiśampāyana: Todos os Pāṇḍavas choraram. Bhīṣma, filho de Śāntanu, e Vidura, com os demais parentes, estavam na mesma aflição. Em seguida, concluíram os ritos da oferenda de água, dever filial que honra o falecido e reafirma o dharma mesmo em meio à dor.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even in intense personal grief, dharma is upheld through prescribed duties toward the departed. The verse highlights that righteous conduct includes completing funerary rites (udakakriyāḥ), honoring ancestors and maintaining social-ritual order.
After the death of their father (contextually Pāṇḍu), the Pāṇḍavas, along with Bhīṣma, Vidura, and other relatives, mourn openly and then perform the water-offering rites for the deceased, completing the immediate ritual obligations.
